You do not GET sick, you DO sick!

Every year people seem to get sick around the holidays. What is it about these festive months that makes us begin to cough, sneeze and become congested? The answer is not that there are more sickness creating viruses or bacteria in the world. It is that during these, sometimes trying months, we as a population submit ourselves to more stressors from our environment than any other time of the year. This choice to attend too many holiday parties, eat too much fruit cake and turkey, and get totally stressed out about our gift giving encourages an increased susceptibility to illness. I always tell all of my patients that you do not GET sick, you DO sick. This year, make it a high priority to focus even more on getting enough sleep, eating a healthy diet, managing your stress, not overextending yourself, exercising daily and getting your chiropractic adjustments to maintain your immune function all the way to 2010!
