The Secret To Creating Personal Change!!!

So often we attempt to better ourselves by making the decision to improve our health, and so often these changes last for about 2 weeks and then we are back to our old habits. As I have personally struggled with this challenge for many years, I have figured out a couple of keys to implementing and then maintaining lifestyle changes. Here goes...The first key to long term change is knowing where you are headed. As Steven Covey often says, "begin with the end in mind." What I mean by this is to start with your personal core values. This will dictate what your goal is and what you are shooting for. If these core values are that important to you, then taking action to reach them, even it takes a lifetime, will not be a problem. Next, decide which action steps are necessary in order to obtain those goals. This is the "how to get there" part of your plan. Once these first two points are in place the rest is based on creating habits surrounding these action steps. By creating rituals or habits we are enabling ourselves to use the least amount of conscious energy on obtaining these goals. This makes it possible for us to take on new activities and projects while at the same time continuing to work towards our ultmimate goals! Lastly, constantly reminding ourselves of our ultimate objectives is the key to staying on track. Make sure to write out your goals on paper and look at them daily to remind you of your core values and keep you focused.
